24th ICDE World Conference

ICDE is a non-governmental organization in formal consultative relations with UNESCO and seeks to be a global force for lifelong, open and flexible learning. It is the leading global membership organization for the open and distance education community and provides its members with access to a global network of expertise in the field of open and distance education around the world. Founded in 1938 in Canada as the International Council for Correspondence Education, ICDE is closely connected with UNESCO and shares the same key value: the attainment of quality education for all. Consisting of members from more than 50 countries from across the globe, ICDE has proved to provide support and strategic advice to members seeking to undertake collaboration projects and obtain funding. ICDE’s headquarter is located in Oslo, Norway and the the organization seeks to foster international collaboration; to promote intercultural cooperation and understanding; to support and develop networks at national, regional, global and linguistic affinity groups levels; to provide forums where individuals, corporations, institutions, governments and associations can engage in professional interaction in the field of flexible learning; to contribute to the development of new methodologies and technologies to improve lifelong learning and to encourage the development of good practice and standards in flexible learning.

    October 2, 2011 – October 5, 2011

    The 24th ICDE World Conference will be hosted by Universitas Terbuka in Indonesia on 2-5 October 2011. This conference will be a forum for participants from all over the world and distinguished experts to share and learn from each other on how to plan, develop and better manage ODL programs. Since there is a wide range of content in ODL programs in participating institutions/countries which cover all of those three components, directly or indirectly it will help promote the new way of thinking about a future in which environmental, societal, and economic considerations are balanced in the pursuit of development and improved quality of life.

    The main conference will be held over two days at Westin Hotel, Nusa Dua, Bali and will consist of keynotes speeches as well as plenary and parallel sessions. The keynote speeches will be delivered by invited speakers who will be identified by an International Program Committee based on his/her expertise in the field of ODL. The plenary sessions are devoted to seven invited experts who will address different sub-themes in panel formats.  The parallel sessions are allocated for about 297 presenters who will be distributed in accordance with the sub-themes of the conference. The tentative agenda of paper presentations is as follow:
